The New York International Auto Show was one of the first major industry events canceled by the pandemic in April 2020, but the normally annual event has returned to the Jacob Javits Center for 2022 with a light, but respectable array of announcements from carmakers.
The Stellantis Group's Jeep and Chrysler brands headlined the show's announcements with new vehicles, while Hyundai and Kia showed refreshes of their popular mid-size SUVs, and Nissan revealed updates to its landmark EV, the Leaf.
For its public days, the auto show has lined up new activities for the public including a dedicated multi-brand Electric Vehicle Test Track, an all-new Automotive Aftermarket Experience, and for the first time, a personal Micro Mobility Expo to showcase the latest in electric 'last mile' transportation, an activity that seems perfectly suited to aiding transportation around the Big Apple.
"We're back! In the past two years there's been so much change with new and exciting products, technology and advancements and we can't wait to again showcase the very best that the industry has to offer to potential car buyers throughout our area," said Mark Schienberg, New York Auto Show president.
The show has run in New York for an astounding 120 years, with the occasional interruption due to world war or global pandemic.
