From ChatGPT and AI design to new directions for technology, leaders from Dassault Systems offered compelling quotes.

We heard some fascinating words from the folks at Dassault Systemes during 3DExperience World this year. The most provocative comments were about artificial intelligence.

Barnard Charles, chairman and CEO of Dassault Systemes announced new moves by SolidWorks and the future of design and nature:

“Starting July 1, every seat of Solidworks will include cloud services. On the same day, everyone with Solidworks will be able to share with anyone else with a license

“You are going to be challenged by life synthesis and bio-imagination. They’ve created a robot that mimics the movement of a turtle.”

Suchit Jain, VP of strategy & business development at SolidWorks, offered several startling comments about ChatGPT and its AI brethren.

“Real innovation looks stupid.”

“What is the killer application for AI? At first, they said it was automation. Now AI is in the design world. Does it invent? I don’t know. Can it create? I say, yes. Just wait. It’s just a matter of time.”

“When you open something to the masses, it can get out of hand.”

“Technology leaves people behind. The goal is to not leave people behind.”

“We asked ChatGPT if it knew SolidWorks API. It said, yes. We asked it to create a spiral staircase in SolidWorks API. It did so. It wasn’t completely useful, but it was about 80% useful.”

“The speed of improvement for ChatGPT will probably begin in just a year.”
